Start Building Your Email List Fast and Free with These Two Tools
Everyone says it. Ok, not everyone.
But if you’ve ever listened to any “experts” on online marketing, they all say start building a list ASAP.
In this case, they are right. It is one of the best things you can start doing no matter what stage of the game you are in.
Where the “gurus and experts” lead me astray was with their recommendations. Big surprise, but most online marketing advice is fueled by online marketing affiliate programs. In fact, I think the “make money online” niche is one of the biggest niches out there.
So when you get a recommendation about setting up an autoresponder with a certain company, chances are they are getting paid to make that recommendation.
That’s where most advice goes bad. When I was starting out, I did not need all the features of Infusionsoft, or even Mailchimp for that matter. I didn’t know how to use any of it.
What I did need was cheap, as in free. It’s hard to justify paying $40 a month for an email list of 7, two of which are your test emails.
If you’ve been spending hours and hours thinking and researching about the right setup, let’s break it down in it’s most simple, purest form.
The 3 Things You Need to Build a Successful Email List from Scratch
- Affordable (free)
- Lead Capture
Like I said before, affordable is important because you can’t make money if your list service costs more than your making.
You also need a good lead capture, not just signup forms. Pop-ups, lead boxes, ribbons, welcome mats, whatever you want to call them, they all have one thing in common. . .
They’re annoying? Yes, kind of, but they also work! Whatever you think about them, they work. The good news is you can customize them to turn down the obnoxious factor to suit your taste.
You also need an autoresponder. Without that feature, your list is pretty useless. Sure you can send out a blast once in awhile, but it’s not really effective. Otherwise, your list will gather dust.
Get to the Point! What are the Two Free Tools?!
Both of these links are affiliate links, meaning I would get a commission if at some point you grow to the point of being a paying customer, so let’s both root for that!
But I don’t make this recommendation based on the affiliate status, its based on the solution that I actually found when I was starting out. I wasted so much time trying to find these things and being able to afford them.
I also got sidetracked down many shiny object rabbitholes chasing features and things that I didn’t even need.
Don’t let the shiny objects keep you from jumping in and doing.
